Whakahā is an exclusive-use holiday home made for the people you love. The whole property is yours, with no shared spaces and room for up to ten to gather or find their own space.
Set across twelve private hectares on the banks of the Rangitata River, beneath Mt Peel and the Four Peaks, Whakahā is in Peel Forest, South Canterbury. The name means “to breathe out” – a feeling that arrives as the road gives way to forest, the river comes into view and the mountains fill the windows. A thousand-year-old tōtara forest and Peel Forest village are just minutes away.
Inside, floor-to-ceiling windows frame the river and mountains across 184 square metres of single-level living. The open-plan living area features a chef’s kitchen and high-end appliances, while a separate Snug/Media room offers a quieter retreat. Luxury linens, a ready-to-light fire and thoughtful details make settling in effortless.
A meal awaits on arrival, with the pantry stocked with local produce, New Zealand wines, beers and local spirits. Every stay also includes one curated local experience – from a private chef dinner to a river or high-country adventure or photography session. A remote concierge can arrange everything else, from transfers to catered meals.
All that’s left is to simply be here, together.
